Manaslu trekking difficulty 2017-12-03 14:59:30

Manaslu trekking is relatively remote trek taking you through the thick forest, making through several rivers and streams, crossing suspension bridges, witnessing the astounding beauty of mountains and breathtaking landscape. Exploring in the untouched and less influenced villages in the Manaslu region, you shall get plenty of opportunity to explore your cultural thirst. Despite the beauty, adventure, and culture that the Manaslu region offers, Manaslu region has attracted a lesser number of trekkers in comparison to other classic treks. Manaslu trekking difficulty can be one of the reasons why this destination isn’t so popular. However, don’t worry about the adversity of the landscape; the region is moderately difficult compared to any other treks in Nepal. You shall make through several passes, narrow gangways, glacial streams, and rugged route which might not be as frequent as they are in Manaslu trekking. No matter how rugged the route is, you shall not find any severe challenge to complete the trek with a moderate level of body fitness. You aren’t required to have any athletic body fitness for successful completion of the trek. Ensure that your body can endure walking for long duration for some days continuously. If you also have previous experience of trekking in mountain and hilly area, you will be able to take advantage of that. These previous trekking experiences prepare you for the high altitude areas; your body becomes familiar with the less oxygen content air, and adapting into this atmosphere becomes familiar to you. But this doesn’t mean you will not have any difficulty there. No matter how many times you have been to this region, the Manaslu trekking difficulty is something that you shouldn’t ignore, especially the altitude sickness. The altitude sickness can even lead to the death of an individual. March to May and September to November are considered the best times for the Manaslu region to complete this trek. October is the busiest month in the year; which may not be as crowded as other classic treks, however, in comparison to the number of trekkers in other months, October faces the highest number of trekkers. Trekking during the winter season isn’t impossible in this region, however, doing so during the month of winter can be really miserable. You might even have to make through some of the icy sections, crossing through which requires some additional gears. Also, keep in mind that most of the teahouses in the Bimthang area remain closed from late November to early February.  Most of the people from the high altitude areas during winter migrate to the low altitude areas. Thus, the season you are trekking in might also increase the Manaslu trekking difficulty. It is very important to trek slow, taking plenty of time for rest; your body requires some time to adapt in the high altitude areas that contain very less amount of oxygen in the air. Trekking in the remote areas of Nepal with the not very dense settlement isn’t what everybody can do easily. This trek isn’t for the beginners for sure, especially if you haven’t done any exercises keeping the trek in mind, at all. Manaslu trek without guide 2017-11-17 15:49:16

Manaslu trek is one of the remote treks in Nepal that takes you through traditional villages, dense forest, narrow pathways, gorges, crossing several glacial rivers, streams, and gives you the best opportunity to cross the Larkya La Pass. You cannot get the special permit to do this trek alone; you must be accompanied by a licenced porter guide or a guide, and must be travelling in a group of two members; which means, Manaslu trek without guide isn't possible. It is one of the restricted areas declared by the Government of Nepal. Similarly, you also need a special permit to make through Tsum valley, Manaslu base camp, and Larkya La Pass. You can get the permit via an authorized trekking guide. Before getting the permit for Manaslu trek, you have to hire an authorized individual from a local trekking agency working in Nepal, such individual can be either a porter guide or a professional guide. Excluding the guide or the porter guide you are going to do this trek, you have to be trekking in a group of two members. And, you have to file for the special permit to do this trek via a trekking agency. Only when you meet these requirements of the governments you can get a special permit. For the application of the permit, you have to show your original passport stamped with arrival mark, have travel insurance that covers you up to 6000 meters, 4 passports sized photographs, and permit fees. And if your Manaslu trek itinerary includes Tsum valley too, you have to apply for this permit separately. You are required to have the Restricted Area Permit (RAP), Manaslu Conservation Area Permit (MCAP), and Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP). When you already have the RAP, you do not have to take TIMS card, which would have been mandatory in another kind of trekking route. You might be charged US$70 for the first week during September to November and US$10 per day per person after this; and, if you are travelling during December to August, you shall be charged US$50 for the first week and US$7 per extra day per person. The cost of ACAP and MCAP for Manaslu circuit trekking is NPR 2,000 each. Once the trekking agency buys a permit for you, it comes under the tax radar of the government. If they give you the permit without a guide, they will be surcharged with a penalty, and you shall be under high risk, as there are some dangerous places prone to avalanche, where few incidents did happen in the past years. Thus, Manaslu circuit trekking route compulsorily requires you to obtain all the required permits via a travel agency, and must be travelling with a guide; no solo travelling in the Manaslu region. You might be wondering that why you have to obtain the ACAP when you are trekking in the Manaslu region. It is to be noted that you shall be trekking in the Annapurna region for two days, for which, you are required to have the ACAP. Normally, a Manaslu circuit trek includes trekking in the Tsum valley. You have to get special permits for trekking in the Tsum valley. You might be charged US$35 for the first 8 days during September to November, and US$25 for the first 8 days during the months of December to August. You can get the permit within an hour and a half, however, if the system goes down and the officers are required to work manually, it might take a couple of hours. You cannot obtain the permits in advance, as the government has to verify your...

How dangerous is Manaslu? 2017-06-16 14:30:08

If you are wondering about how dangerous is Manaslu, then let us tell you, despite people's consideration about Manaslu as easy climbing peak, though the climbing can be a life time adventure, the route is prone to landslide and collapse. In a sunny afternoon the snow can melt which may result in occasional avalanches. A climber should have adequate adeptness of altitude, proficient climbing, and strong preparation; pushing oneself within slim time worsens the situation. The exact degree of danger cannot be measured considering a single factor alone, thus, the degree of risk is a cumulative result of the weather condition, the capability of the climber, the potential hazards, and any other technical unforeseen circumstances. With the height of 8156 meters, located at the western Nepal, Manaslu is the world's eighth highest peak in the world. Like any other mountain peaking 8000 meters in height, to make a summit successful a climber has to consider the particular time of ascending. Each change in weather brings fresh deep snow which could be very much problematic. The mountain has many lengthy ridges and valley glaciers, which makes the trekking and climbing more convenient. The risk isn't any worse than climbing Mt Cho Oyu, the route prone to avalanches is what makes Manaslu a dangerous peak to summit. Crossing the Larke La Pass can invite some difficulty. Experience of climbing Manaslu can be of very much help before climbing other high altitude mountains.
